Rediscover your youthful radiance with Juvéderm

As we age, changes in skin tissue elasticity and tone are inevitable. Over time, facial skin begins to loosen, with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The gradual depletion of natural fat stores can lead to sunken or hollow areas under the eyes and cheeks or thinner lips. The impact of lifestyle factors, such as smoking or sun damage, can accelerate the appearance of early signs of aging. At Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, we offer two highly sought-after dermal fillers, Juvéderm® and Juvéderm Voluma®, designed to rejuvenate the skin and restore a smooth, youthful appearance. These treatments can be administered individually or in conjunction with other techniques, expertly performed by our plastic surgeons to create a personalized treatment plan that will help you achieve a more youthful appearance.

Juvéderm® is a unique soft tissue filler approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safely and effectively improving static wrinkles and restoring fullness to facial tissues. Composed of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), Juvéderm® stands apart from traditional fillers due to its slower rate of absorption by the body, which allows for more consistent and longer-lasting results. HA attracts moisture from the surrounding tissues and binds with existing collagen stores to smooth wrinkles and replenish lost facial volume.

When injected beneath the skin, these HA molecules act like tiny sponges, binding to the skin's natural moisture and producing a plumping effect that smoothes the skin and adds facial volume. Over time, Juvéderm® is safely absorbed and metabolized by the body. The benefits of the treatment are immediate and can last for six months or even longer, depending on the targeted area.

The ideal candidate for Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is an excellent option for nearly anyone looking to alleviate the early signs of aging by smoothing fine lines and restoring lost volume. The process begins with a confidential consultation at the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, during which one of our expert doctors will review your medical history and discuss your aesthetic goals. Your face will be carefully assessed to determine the most suitable technique(s) to achieve your desired results.

An ideal candidate for Juvéderm® should be in good overall health, understand the injectable treatment process, and have realistic expectations for their outcomes. Juvéderm® is safe for both men and women of any skin type or ethnicity. However, individuals with a known allergy to the bacterial proteins found in Juvéderm® may not be suitable candidates for treatment.

The Juvéderm® procedure

Each Juvéderm® session is conducted in one of our comfortable treatment rooms at the Boston Center for Plastic Surgery and typically lasts less than half an hour. While the injections are generally not painful, our doctors can add a local or topical anesthetic upon request for additional comfort. Once you are comfortable and the target area is identified, Juvéderm® is administered under the skin using a very small needle.

What to expect after your Juvéderm® treatment?

Since no downtime is required, patients can return to their regular routine immediately. Mild redness, swelling, and tenderness may be common, but these symptoms typically resolve within the first 24 to 48 hours. With minimal risk of serious side effects, Juvéderm® and Voluma® are excellent 'lunchtime lift' options.

Juvéderm® results

The benefits of Juvéderm® are noticeable right away. As the HA continues to stimulate the body's production of collagen, the results will continue to improve in the following months. Depending on the treatment area, the results can last from six to nine months and, in some cases, up to two years. When the effects start to diminish, a maintenance session can safely extend the benefits. While Juvéderm® can deliver excellent, natural-looking results when used on its own, our team of esteemed physicians may recommend additional techniques, such as Botox®, medical facials, and advanced laser treatments, for optimal facial rejuvenation.
