What is the neck lift procedure?
During this procedure, your surgeon will make discreet incisions hidden beneath the chin and behind the ears. These incisions grant access to the underlying fat and muscle layers. Excess fat is removed using liposuction or direct excision, while sagging skin is tightened and repositioned. The neck muscles (platysmal bands) are also tightened using internal sutures, refining the jawline.
Sutures are then used to close the incisions, followed by dressing application. The result is a smoother, more contoured appearance. At Boston Center for Plastic Surgery, we perform this procedure under local anesthesia or twilight sedation in our private, fully accredited surgical suite. The duration varies from one to three hours, depending on the complexity of the surgery.
