A body contouring procedure is so powerful because it has the potential to
rejuvenate you both physically and mentally. We’ve all had the experience of the
boost in self-confidence that comes from liking our reflection in the mirror.
Unfortunately, some patients are either not genetically blessed with their ideal
body proportion or lose this ideal due to weight gain/loss, pregnancy, hormones
and age. Procedures to rejuvenate the body such as breast surgery, a tummy tuck or
liposuction are one of my areas of expertise. I have considerable experience in
delivering safe and effective results that will also be long-lasting. It is important to
me that you get considerable bang for your buck which is why I take the time
during our initial meetings to discuss how long do plastic surgery results last as
well as what you can do to get the most longevity out of your procedure.

How to Achieve a Long Lasting Result with Breast Implants

A breast augmentation with breasts implants is not just popular in my Boston area
offices. It is probably the most requested aesthetic procedure in the world. When
performed correctly, a breast augmentation can improve the appearance of your
entire torso. Furthermore, these results can last for 10-20 years or more. The key to
this long-lasting result, however, is in choosing an appropriate size breast implant
for your individual body. This is one of the many reasons why I am such a stickler
for scheduling an in-person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon,
like myself, who specializes in breast surgery. The internet has opened people up
to the aesthetic options available today which is great, but just because a 445cc
implant worked for Kylie Jenner does not mean that it will work for you. And if
you get an implant that is too big for your chest and/or the health of your breast
skin and tissues, it can result in complications such as implant malposition that will
require revision breast surgery to fix. So, the steps that you can take to ensure that

your breast implants last for decades are:
• In-person consultation with an experienced plastic surgeon
• Choose a breast implant that your body can sustain
• Maintain a stable weight
• See plastic surgeon annually to assess implant health
• Schedule an MRI at 5 years post silicone implant placement
• Replace implants at 12-25 years after surgery
While placing the right size and shape breast implant is critical for achieving an
end result that you can maintain for a decade plus, you also want to make certain

that your implants themselves remain healthy. Most plastic surgeons offer an
annual check-up so take advantage of this. And if you have silicone gel breast
implants, make sure to schedule an MRI at 5 years post surgery to make certain
that you don’t have a rupture or leak as there’s no other way to know. This MRI
should be repeated every 2-3 years, and it’s also recommended that breast implants
get exchanged every 12-15 years.

Tummy Tuck, Liposuction & Weight

The number one problem area for most patients of both sexes is excess pockets of
fat in the abdominal region. Even if you are super fit, a little fat in the wrong place
can seriously disrupt your body contour. Liposuction is my go-to procedure for
removing unwanted “pinchable” fat from almost anywhere on the body including:
• Abdomen
• Hips
• Thighs
• Flanks
• Chest
• Arms
• Chin/Neck

By “pinchable” fat, I am referring to the kind of fat that can be pulled away from
your body. For women who’ve had multiple children, however, there is often the
added burden of skin and tissues that have stretched past their ability to bounce
back. An abdominoplasty or tummy tuck produces such a robust result as it allows
me to address sagging skin, loose muscles and excess fat in a single procedure. The
number one thing that you can do to ensure that your liposuction and/or tummy
tuck result last for decades is to maintain your weight. This is why I always stress
the importance of being at a maintainable goal weight when you have your
procedure as neither liposuction nor a tummy tuck are about weight loss. They are
about improving your body contour which can make you look longer and leaner.
However, if you gain more than 10 lbs., it may adversely affect your results which
is something neither of us want.
