Quite luxury may have recently hit the zeitgeist, but it has long been the approach in my practice. As a double Board-Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, I am adamant about delivering the kind of facial rejuvenation that is elegant, subtle and totally natural looking. My work never screams “done”. Instead, I want people noticing how great you look without really being able to pinpoint why. More important than being unnoticeable, however, my aesthetic procedures are always going to leave you looking like yourself. Even if I change the shape of your nose with a rhinoplasty, for example, the end result is still going to look like your nose. So, what are the subtle enhancements that can make you look better without looking done? Here is a brief overview of how to achieve natural looking facial rejuvenation.

Brow & Eye Rejuvenation Should Never be Obvious

Let’s begin with the upper 1/3 of the face. The skin and tissues around the eyes are some of the most delicate on the body. They also undergo a great deal of wear and tear through any given day when you smile, laugh or cry. This 1-2 combination makes the eye area one of the first to exhibit the signs of aging such as:

  • Excess, drooping skin in the upper eyelid
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Visible fat pad under the eyes
  • Hollowness in the tear trough
  • Dark circles

All of these issues may also be exacerbated by a heaviness in the brow as the skin and tissues on the forehead head south. Besides being an early hot spot of aging, the brow/eye zone is also often mistreated. We’ve all seen photos of people who look perpetually surprised, have an unnaturally smooth forehead and/or eyes that no longer look like them. This is not the case in my practice. I deliver subtle enhancement with precise Botox® placement that will address fine lines and wrinkles, and open and brighten the appearance of your eyes while still keeping your expression natural. Other procedures for improving the upper third of the face include:

Aesthetic Procedures for Jawline & Neck in Boston

After the eyes, the next place to “go” is often the jawline and neck. It’s for many of the same reasons. The skin and tissues are thinner on the neck than the face and have fewer oil glands. We are also living in a time when most of us are looking down at a screen for a predominant portion of the day. This is, sadly, not a posture that does the neck any favors. While there are effective non-surgical options, such as lasers and microneedling, for addressing some of the early signs of aging in the neck, more than a moderate amount of loose, sagging skin is best improved with a surgical neck lift. I practice the Deep Plane Neck Lift technique as I find it delivers the most natural, long-lasting result that never looks “pulled”. A refined facelift and/or neck lift allows me to redefine your lower face by delivering smooth, balanced transitions. The end result is a long, lifted neck that may make you feel more vibrant, youthful and confident.

Natural Definition is the Goal

Natural definition is always my goal. One of the ways that I ensure this kind of result is to start with small adjustments around the lips, chin and cheeks with an appropriate dermal filler. I am looking to enhance symmetry and restore proportion while maintaining facial harmony. The latter is what the human eye is wired to perceive as “youthful”. Achieving the right balance for your unique face requires you to see someone with a deep understanding of anatomy and an excellent artistic eye. Even if you are not quite ready for surgery, I always think it’s smart to schedule an in-person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area. You want a practice that offers a full range of facial rejuvenation options. You don’t want to go to a MedSpa, for example, and be “sold” a procedure because it’s the only kind on offer. Furthermore, it’s nice to establish a relationship with someone who can guide you through the entirety of your aging process.

Proper Skin Care Can do More than You Think

Last, but not least, is proper skin care. It is one of the simplest ways to keep your face looking hydrated, smooth and fresh. At Boston Center for Plastic Surgery (BCPS), we offer our patients a myriad of options such as:

Committing to skincare maintenance will not only promote long-term facial wellness, it’ll also help preserve your surgical results.
