Time, for most of us, is our most precious commodity. Despite the fact that the internet allows us to access information more quickly than ever, there never seems to be enough hours in the day. I pride myself on listening closely to my patients needs and will do everything in my power to deliver the kind of rejuvenation that you want with the least amount of downtime. Combining procedures can be one of the most effective methods for achieving exactly this balance. However, I will only execute multiple procedures at once if it can be done safely. In general, I strive to keep the total surgical time for any procedure below 6 hours. So, while one of the biggest benefits of a Mommy Makeover is that I can combine breast, body and skin rejuvenation in one surgery, the safety of doing so is always going to come down to exactly which procedures you will need in order to attain your desired result.

Mommy Makeover Consultation

The best way to determine the appropriate treatment plan for you is to schedule an in-person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, such as myself, with extensive experience in all aspects of aesthetic surgery. The web is great for research and self-education, but it does not know your unique body. And the only way to get the rejuvenation that you want is to match the exact right combination of procedures to your individual anatomy, desired outcome and tolerance for downtime. During our meeting, I will listen attentively to what bothers you about your appearance. We will discuss your medical history, family history, prior procedures and how your body reacted. I will then conduct an in-depth physical exam to assess:

  • Native breast volume
  • Nipple position
  • Excess pockets of fat
  • Location & degree of sagging skin
  • Skin texture & tone
  • Facial volume loss, if any

Together, we will discuss the options that will best meet your needs. Most Common Mommy Makeover Body Combination in Boston

The most common Mommy Makeover combination in my Boston area practices is a:

  • Breast Augmentation
  • Tummy Tuck

One of the reasons that the catch-all name for combination body contouring procedures is “Mommy Makeover” is due to the fact that these two areas are the ones that are most affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding. However, other factors such as:

  • Age
  • Hormones
  • Weight gain/loss

These may also have an adverse effect on your body composition which is why I always say that the mommy makeover is not just for mothers. Furthermore, while increasing volume with an appropriate breast implant is the most popular breast surgery, some patients may need a breast lift with or without an implant, or even a breast reduction.

Body Contouring & Facial Rejuvenation Combinations

If you are someone who will require a more robust body procedure, such as a breast lift or full abdominoplasty, I will need more time in the operating room (OR). So, if you want to add a skin rejuvenation procedure, it will need to be on the faster side. The most typical facial rejuvenation procedures that I add on to a Mommy Makeover are:

  • Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
  • Facial Fat Grafting

Removing excess skin on the upper lids is a shorter procedure that can pack a powerful punch in terms of making your eyes look more vibrant, awake and youthful. And facial fat grafting may be the ideal choice to restore lost volume in the mid-face/cheeks, and/or address any hollow appearance under the eyes. At the end of the day, any combination procedure has to be tailored to you so while these points are a good overview, they should not replace an in-person meeting.
