Most patients want to get their rejuvenation with as little downtime as possible. It’s one of the many reasons why there has been such an explosion in the last decade of non-surgical body contouring options. Many are very effective and I use them regularly in my treatment plans. However, a surgical procedure is always going to deliver a more robust result, and sometimes, it may be the only option for achieving your desired outcome. This is why so many of my Boston area patients find the idea of a combination procedure so appealing as they can address two problem areas at once with only one recovery. Candidacy is going to depend on your health status, operating room (OR) time limits and your goals, but here are the most popular dual procedure combinations in my practice.
Mastopexy Augmentation in Boston
Many women are born with breasts that are smaller than they’d like, but genetics are not the only thing that can adversely affect their appearance. Other factors such as:
- Age
- Hormones
- Pregnancy
- Breast Feeding
- Weight Gain/Loss
- Menopause
These may all weaken your skin and tissues, causing the breasts to sag. A breast lift or mastopexy is an incredible procedure for rejuvenating your entire torso. It allows me to lift your nipples back to a centered position on your chest wall and sculpt your breasts into their ideal shape. In a mastopexy augmentation, I combine a breast lift with an appropriate sized breast implant for volume. The end result is lifted, perky and more youthful looking breasts which may make your abdomen appear longer and leaner, and your waist look more nipped in.
Tummy Tuck and 360° Liposuction
For women, in particular, the other body area that can take a beating due to life is the abdomen. Like the breasts, hormonal fluctuations and age can severely weaken the skin and tissues so that they sag past the point where diet and exercise can lift them to their former glory. Furthermore, pregnancy may also adversely affect the muscles in your abdomen so that they permanently separate. A tummy tuck is a rejuvenation procedure with pretty significant downtime. But it is also transformative especially when I combine it with diastasis repair, if necessary, and 360° liposuction to the torso so that your hips, flanks and back are in proportion to your new lean and lifted abdomen. In one procedure, I get to contour your waist, remove excess fat, and tighten loose skin and muscle, if necessary.
Breast Reduction and Bra Roll Liposuction
While most of the media coverage tends to focus on ways to increase breast volume, many women have breasts that are too large for their frame. Some are born with them and some develop them with time and lifestyle choices such as having children. Women with too big breasts are often in pain or discomfort physically and emotionally. They tend to be self-conscious and frustrated by their inability to do the things that they’d like, such as certain exercise, or wear the clothes that they want. A breast reduction is a similar procedure to a breast lift except that I’m also removing extra volume. I typically combine this with liposuction of the bra roll in order to deliver functional relief as well as your desired breast shape while also improving the aesthetic contour of your entire torso.
Gynecomastia Surgery and Torso Liposuction for Men
Women are not the only ones to experience dissatisfaction with the appearance of their chest. Many men suffer from gynecomastia, which is an excess of breast tissue and/or fat. This can be especially traumatizing as the classic, masculine ideal is a smooth, flat chest. Furthermore, gynecomastia is often the result of hormonal changes so it can affect younger men at a time when they’re already feeling self-conscious. The internet has been a real game-changer in helping patients to identify gynecomastia and realize that this is a common condition that can be treated. One of these treatment options is gynecomastia surgery. While no one likes the idea of incisions on their chest, the advantage of surgery is that it allows me to address all of the underlying causes of gynecomastia in one procedure. I can remove fat, glandular tissue and skin. Generally, I will combine this with liposuction of the torso to create your desired chest definition and balance between your abdomen and flanks.
My goal with any treatment plan is to create your ideal proportion with as little disruption to your daily routine as possible.
