The breasts play a critical role in how you feel about your body and thus, yourself. While a great deal of chatter on social media is focused on increasing breast volume with an implant, the real goal of any successful breast surgery procedure is to deliver the ideal shape to your breasts. It all comes down to creating and/or restoring proper proportion throughout your torso. The nice thing about an appropriate breast surgery procedure is that when your breasts are the right size and shape for your unique anatomy, it may make your waist look more nipped in, and your abdomen appear longer and leaner. There are a number of different breast surgery options such as a breast augmentation, a breast lift with or without an implant and a breast reduction. With any of these choices, I may decide to add fat grafting to the breasts. Here is how fat grafting can improve your breast surgery results.

Benefits of Fat Grafting to the Breast in Boston

Fat is generally portrayed as the enemy in the media. But the right amount of fat in the right spot can be a positive thing. This is certainly true when it comes to your breasts. Fat grating is a powerful technique that can enhance your breast surgery results by using your body’s own tissue to refine and optimize the shape of your breasts. The benefits of fat grafting to the breast in my Boston area offices include:

• Improve body contour
• Restore breast symmetry
• Create a more natural look and feel to the breasts
• Increase upper pole fullness
• Enhance results without the need for a larger breast implant

In general, I use fat grating to the breast as an addendum to, not replacement for, a breast implant in my breast augmentation procedures. However, some patients who only desire a mild increase in size and who do not want an implant for whatever reason, may be candidates for a breast augmentation with fat alone. There are downsides, however, including the fact that it will take multiple treatments in order to achieve your end result. All of this will be discussed with you in detail during your initial consultation.

Ozempic® Breasts & Fat Grating to the Breast

Fat grafting to the breasts may also be a consideration when treating Ozempic® breasts. The proliferation of GLP-1 weight loss drugs has, so far, had an extremely positive effect on people’s health. The only downside to losing a lot of weight, particularly if done quickly, is that it may adversely affect your body contour. Ozmepic® breasts is a term that’s been coined to describe the deflated, sagging appearance of breasts on women who’ve lost 10 lbs. or more on one of these drugs. A breast augmentation and/or breast lift with the addition of fat grafting to the breast may be a great way to restore your breasts to a size and shape that will fit your new leaner body contour. My only caveat when treating Ozempic® breasts is that you be at a maintainable goal weight and committed to staying on your GLP-1 drug.

Fat Grafting to the Breast Procedure

The procedure itself is fairly straightforward. I will remove excess fat via liposuction from an area where you have an abundance. Typical harvest sites include:

• Abdomen
• Hips
• Flanks
• Outer Thighs

This fat will be treated and then injected into the areas of the breast where you need more volume. Many women like the appearance of fullness in the upper portion or pole of the breast so this is a “hot spot” for fat grafting. I will also often use it with thinner or very fit patients in order to provide camouflage for a breast implant. In short, fat grafting to the breast is an incredible tool for rejuvenating your body.
