No man wants visible breasts. The chest contour that most men find desirable is
smooth and flat. Unfortunately, many men have some version of a condition called
gynecomastia, which is an overabundance of fat, glandular tissue or both, that
prevents them from achieving this ideal no matter how great their diet, or how hard
they work out. Way more common than most realize, it is estimated that
gynecomastia affects up to 36% of young men and up to 57% of older men in the
Boston area. Some younger men may grow out of the condition, but for those who
do not, there are a number of viable treatments for smoothing out the appearance of
the chest. The right procedure for you is going to depend on the underlying cause
of your “male boobs” and is the driving factor in terms of cost, which can range
anywhere from $8,000 to $11,000.

Liposuction for Gynecomastia in Boston
The simplest surgical treatment option for gynecomastia is liposuction to the chest.
Body contouring is one of my areas of expertise so I can tell you that, in the right
patient, this can be an extremely effective method for restoring a smooth, flat
appearance to your chest. The key, of course, is proper patient selection. The ideal
liposuction patient is any man in:
• Good overall health
• Within 10 lbs. of a maintainable goal weight
• “Man boobs” due to fat alone
While many potential patients will come in, having done their research online,
wanting a non-surgical body contouring procedure such as SculpSure® or
Coolsculpting®, I prefer liposuction for many reasons. It gives me the most access
and control so that I can literally re-sculpt your chest into its ideal proportion.
Also, it is a one-and-done procedure unlike the non-surgical options that require
multiple treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. I generally perform liposuction to the
chest under local anesthesia and the cost ranges from $8,000 to $9,000 depending
on how much fat we need to remove.

Male Chest Contouring Surgery
Something that most men are surprised to learn is that, like women, we have
glandular tissue. Oftentimes, it is an overabundance of glandular tissue and fat that
is causing gynecomastia. In such cases, performing liposuction alone will not
achieve your desired result. It will just be a waste of your money and time. My job
is to deliver on your goals. This is why I will always be upfront during your initial
consultation about what it’s really going to take to make your chest flat. Most men
are adverse to the idea of a surgical procedure in general. This is especially true
when it comes to surgery on the chest. I understand. But in my opinion, it is not
worth doing a lesser procedure for a lesser result.

During a male chest contouring procedure, I will typically perform liposuction first
to debulk your chest before making a precise incision around the areola through
which I will remove the excess glandular tissue. The advantage of this incision
placement is that if there is any residual scar, it will blend into the line between
your areola and chest skin. The price for glandular excision and liposuction for
gynecomastia will range from $9,000 to $11,000 depending on the extent of fat and
tissue to be removed. I will be able to give you a more accurate idea of your actual
gynecomastia cost after I examine you in person. While these treatment options
may sound overwhelming, most men are so happy afterwards. Excess volume in
the chest is not only visually undesirable, but it can really wreak havoc
emotionally. Imagine the freedom of wearing what you want. The boost in selfconfidence is well worth the cost for most.
