The liquid rhinoplasty or non-surgical nose job has become an increasingly popular procedure over the last decade. As a Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, improving the appearance of your nose with a surgical or non-surgical rhinoplasty is one of my specialities. I have the extensive experience, technical skill and artistic eye to deliver exemplary results for my Boston area patients. Part of what allows me to consistently achieve superior results is that I am extremely honest about what any procedure can and cannot achieve on your unique anatomy. While the idea of a non-surgical nose job is understandably appealing to most patients as it requires no anesthesia, no incisions and minimal downtime for recovery, it is also limited in terms of what it can achieve. A liquid rhinoplasty can improve the shape of your nose, but it cannot fix the size or the function of your nose. Deciding whether or not a non-surgical nose job is a viable option for your needs should always begin with an in-person consultation.
Rhinoplasty Consultation in Boston
Since rhinoplasty is a cornerstone of my practice here in Boston, I understand how traumatizing it can be to have a nose that just doesn't fit your face or that's been damaged in some way. Social media has probably exacerbated the emotional toll that an unsightly nose takes on a patient's sense of self as all those photos make it too easy to fixate on what doesn't work. The positive side of spending so much time staring at your nose on Instagram, for example, is that when a patient comes in to see me, he or she typically has a very strong idea of what bothers them about the size and/or shape of the nose. During our consultation, I will listen closely to your concerns. We will review photos of your nose as well as the kind of nose you are looking to achieve. I will ask a lot of questions about your medical history, family history, lifestyle, any prior procedures, aesthetic or not, as well as how your body recovered. I will then perform an in depth physical exam to assess the size, shape and function of your nose.
What Can a Liquid Rhinoplasty Fix?
As mentioned, a non-surgical nose job may be right for you if you are only looking to change the shape of your nose. A liquid rhinoplasty can fix:
- Minor asymmetries
- Smooth out a dorsal hump
- Enhance the nasal tip
- Create more harmony among all of your facial features
The benefits of a non-surgical rhinoplasty are numerous, including:
- No incisions
- No anesthesia
- Minimal downtime for recovery
- Immediately visible results
- Fast
- Less expensive than surgery
- Customizable
However, there are limitations to what you can achieve with this procedure and the results are not permanent. So though it may be less upfront money than a surgical rhinoplasty, it is also a procedure that will need to be done again in 6 months to a year in order to maintain your results.
Liquid Rhinoplasty Cannot Fix Size
While a liquid rhinoplasty can improve the shape of your nose, it cannot fix either its size or its function. In general, if what bothers you about the appearance of your nose is due to it being too large then I will typically recommend surgery. It's a one and done procedure that will address all of your issues at once. However, some patients are trepidatious about committing to surgery. If that is the case with you, a non-surgical rhinoplasty can be a good way to "try out" a new shape to your nose. All of these options will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation.
