Breast Implant Revision with Implant Exchange, Mastopexy, and Internal Bra Support
This patient in her 60s presented with painful capsular contracture and ruptured 600 cc silicone breast implants that had been placed by another surgeon many years earlier. The large implants felt heavy, created an unnatural appearance for her frame, and caused discomfort from their downward pull, along with significant cosmetic deformity.
She underwent breast implant removal, subtotal capsulectomy, replacement with smaller 360 cc silicone implants, and a breast lift (mastopexy) with internal bra support to restore a more youthful, proportional breast shape while improving long-term implant support.
Shown more than one year after surgery, she is thrilled with her results. She loves the lighter, more natural feel and appearance of her breasts, her pain has resolved, and her scars have matured to the point that they are barely noticeable. This case demonstrates how breast implant revision surgery can successfully address implant rupture, capsular contracture, oversized implants, and breast ptosis ("breast sag") while restoring comfort, confidence, and natural-looking proportions.
