Mommy Makeover with Muscle Repair, Fat Transfer, and Hidden-Scar Breast Augmentation: 9-Month Results
This patient came to Boston Center for Plastic Surgery in her early 30s wanting to restore her pre-pregnancy body after having children. Her mommy makeover combined three procedures in a single operation: an abdominoplasty with muscle repair, liposuction with fat transfer, and a hidden-scar breast augmentation. Dr. Tandon performed the following:
-
Abdominoplasty with Muscle Repair: Pregnancy had separated her abdominal muscles, a condition called diastasis recti. A standard tummy tuck removes excess skin but doesn't always address this. Her procedure included surgical repair of the abdominal wall to restore muscle tone and a flatter contour, not just tighter skin.
-
Liposuction with Fat Transfer to the Hip Dips: Liposuction to the abdomen removed stubborn fat that diet and exercise hadn't touched. Rather than discarding that fat, we transferred it to her hip dips, a common concern for women after pregnancy, to create a smoother transition from waist to hip.
-
Hidden-Scar, Muscle-Preserving Breast Augmentation: Her breast augmentation used a periareolar (hidden-scar) incision, placing the implant subfascially so the pectoral muscle stays intact. This muscle-preserving approach typically means a shorter recovery and a more natural result than traditional submuscular placement. She received Natrelle 445cc moderate profile on the right and 405cc moderate profile on the left, sized asymmetrically to correct a preexisting difference between her breasts rather than forcing a matched implant size that wouldn't have suited her anatomy.
At nine months, her muscle repair has fully settled and swelling has resolved. This result reflects her long-term outcome.
