Hidden-Scar, Muscle-Preserving Breast Augmentation: 9-Month Results
This patient came to Boston Center for Plastic Surgery in her early 30s seeking to restore lost breast volume and correct subtle natural asymmetry following pregnancy. Dr. Vickram Tandon performed a customized, muscle-preserving breast augmentation designed for a soft, natural look and a smooth recovery, combined with comprehensive body contouring.
Procedure Highlights:
-
Periareolar Hidden-Scar Technique: Dr. Tandon placed the incisions around the border of the areola, making post-surgical scarring virtually invisible once healed.
-
Subfascial (Muscle-Preserving) Placement: Implants were positioned above the pectoral muscle but under the fascia. This preserves muscle integrity, reduces post-operative discomfort, and provides a softer, more natural movement than traditional submuscular placement.
-
Customized Asymmetry Correction: Rather than using identical implants, Dr. Tandon selected Natrelle 445cc (right) and 405cc (left) moderate-profile implants to balance her natural tissue differences and achieve seamless symmetry.
-
Complementary Body Contouring: Her procedure also included an abdominoplasty to repair separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) alongside targeted liposuction with fat transfer to refine her hip dips and waistline.
At nine months, the implants have fully dropped, leaving a soft, balanced breast shape that fits her frame naturally.
